Tourism and Visitor Centers
As the first points of contact with more than 12 million Georgia visitors each year, the 11 Georgia Tourism and Visitor Centers greet travelers with true Southern Hospitality. Year round travelers can receive maps and literature on historical sites, activities, recreation areas and attractions. Information Specialists will assist with directions and give expert advice on things to see and do as well as places to stay throughout Georgia. Here are two excellent websites to help you collect information on "Things to Do" in Georgia.

Beyond the Tourism and Visitor Centers that are aimed at greeting visitors at our state borders, the state is further organized into nine "regional" tourism groups with the specific intent to allow regional or local groups, cultures, and activities to congeal in a more cohesive manner.
For example, the mountain communities northeast of Atlanta would likely have very different cultural perspectives—as it applies to music, arts and crafts, and festivals—than our more agriculturally based Swainsboro views and heritage.
Each region has a Tourism Project Manager assigned and employed by the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Their role is to work with the Chambers of Commerce and the Visitor Information Centers in their regions to communicate and coordinate local programs with on-going regional and state-level efforts and initiatives. Thus, the websites above could be very useful to anyone wanting to "Explore Georgia".
